- Eligible defendants will work with Peer Recovery Specialists in collaboration with community-based treatment providers (CBTP) to regain stability in their lives and remove barriers caused by substance use.
- Successful participants will be eligible to have their municipal charges dismissed.
- Services offered include:
- Case management assessment and referral to CBTPs for substance use disorders.
- Linkage to community services and resources to meet case management needs.
- Assistance with transportation to court appointments and clinical assessments.
- Recovery coaching and telephone recovery support services.
- Education on relapse prevention and development of recovery management plans focused on personalized recovery goals.
- Education on overdose prevention.
- Training and distribution of Naloxone (Narcan) rescue kits.
- Defendants participating in Opt for Help and Hope must consent in writing to disclosure of treatment records by and between the treatment provider, Prevention is Key, the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, defense counsel and Paterson Municipal Court.
