Changeworks, LLC provides individual and family counseling services to youth in crisis with the goal of stabilization by accessing family resources and exploring areas for growth. The focus is on empowering youth and families to make positive changes by exploring challenges in a safe and nurturing environment. Youth are engaged in an active process of learning new skills, understanding how their actions affect themselves and others, and developing new strategies for managing conflicts and change. Emphasis on understanding the cognitive behavioral nature of emotional challenges is essential to making the necessary changes in one's life.

As the sole provider for Changeworks, LLC I have over 30 years of mental health experience in a variety of settings including psychiatric emergency department, inpatient psychiatry, psychiatric residential care, juvenile detention center, adult correctional settings, outpatient counseling, school-based assessments, child study team, crisis response team, clinical supervision, program management, and consultation.
For over a decade I have provided IIC services to clients in Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, and Essex counties while working full-time at the Elizabeth Board of Education. Many children experiencing school-related issues benefit from counseling support to learn conflict resolution skills in school and at home. Communication skills are addressed in a safe and supportive environment to facilitate positive self-esteem and set short and long-term goals.
There is an understanding that mental health issues, trauma, and substance abuse have an impact on development, learning, and achievement. I will collaborate with other service providers to address child and family needs. Exploring safe community resources for recreation is encouraged to provide youth with positive learning experiences to build skills and provide opportunities for growth. Family communication and parenting skills are addressed to assist parents who are experiencing burnout from challenges. Parents are encouraged to engage in their own self-care to foster better communication with their children. Issues of fitness, health, diet, and sleep are often addressed to assist with a firm foundation for personal development. Many teens experience challenges with addressing the transition to adult living. I will work with youth and families to develop a plan for after high school.
